Welcome to our interview series where we explore the perspectives of professionals at OCTÉ Lift. Today, we are pleased to share a discussion with Frederic CAGNEUX, who provides insights into his experience in the elevator sector and his role at OCTÉ Lift.

CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF ?

I am Frédéric CAGNEUX, active in the elevator sector since 1988. My experience began at a French company that was later acquired by a multinational. I started with electrical wiring for a year to get to know the equipment, followed by a quarter in new installations, before specializing in troubleshooting, progressing from technician to team leader and then to jobsite manager. Then I was a subcontractor and then, after 13 years, I joined OCTÉ Lift in 2016. I particularly enjoy projects involving multiple stakeholders, finding solutions, and bringing projects to fruition. I recall one case in particular where we had to be creative to insert a metal shaft structure into a masonry shaft with perpendicular angle doors positionning, as everything was extremely limited in terms of space.

CAN YOU INTRODUCE US YOUR JOB ?

As a Client Manager for OCTÉ Lift in Paris and the Île-de-France region, I manage a diverse clientele, from independents to multinationals. I place great importance on availability and responsiveness. What I appreciate the most is understanding and directing client needs towards feasible solutions, considering technical constraints, especially in Haussmannian buildings with limited spaces. I am particularly proud of having worked on very fine complete elevator installations (metal shaft structure in stairwell void) at prestigious sites, but also on replacing counterweights on high-speed devices with numerous mechanical constraints.

What I enjoy most in my daily work? The teamwork, the relationship between the client’s needs and the possibilities with our Applied Engineering Office. Starting from the need, analyzing it, discussing with the A.E.O., and proposing the best solution to our client. But also the autonomy, fieldwork, and human contact, especially when managing conditions that could seem conflictual to reach a situation where everyone is satisfied.

The sector is constantly evolving in the Paris region, for example with the arrival of the Olympic Games and the management of subcontractors. We are also able to produce push-button boxes in a short time. The shift towards modernizing machinery-free devices, which have been standard for over 20 years, marks the future of the market. Added to this is the new possibility of connecting devices to improve customer service and optimize the time of elevator teams with solutions like VERSO Connect. My personal ambition is to increase our presence in lesser-known segments, where we excel, such as modernizations with Gearless machines and BLOCKMOD solutions.
